We invite you, and all Bay Area families, to attend a literacy-themed, “back to school” program with Get Empowered! and Youth Speaks. This free event includes drop-in resources from Native American Health Center, activities, and entertainment for families.
This event is part of a three-part series of Free Saturday programs focusing on health, wellness, and food justice. Future dates to be announced.

About Youth Speaks and Get Empowered
Founded in 1996 in San Francisco, Youth Speaks is a leading presenter of spoken word performance, education, and youth development programs. Trailblazers of local and national youth poetry slams, festivals, and more, Youth Speaks offers a comprehensive slate of literary arts education programs and provides numerous opportunities for youth to be published and heard. Youth Speaks has worked with hundreds of thousands of youth and has helped create partner programs in 47 cities across the United States.
Get Empowered! has a mission to unify, uplift, transform, and empower children, communities, and companies and believes in the power of multicultural arts, education, and mindfulness to bring out the best in people of all ages and diverse backgrounds. Get Empowered! immerses participants in custom designed creative and positive experiences that help open hearts and minds in support of learning, growth, leadership, wellness, life, and work skills development. Built on a foundation of diversity, inclusion, and creating a safe, welcoming space for all, Get Empowered! connects people in ways that allow them to tap into their individual and collective strengths while giving and—getting empowered!
Native American Health Center (NAHC) is a nonprofit, Federally Qualified Health Center proudly serving California’s Bay Area Native Population and other underserved communities. Caring for the Bay Area since 1972, NAHC has worked at local, state, and federal levels to deliver resources and services for the urban Native community. As an Urban Indian Health Project through the Indian Health Service, NAHC is dedicated to providing high-quality medical, dental, behavioral health, community wellness, and social service programs.
Our Equity School Partnership project is a new initiative collaboratively conceived with public school leaders to better address the evolving needs of predominantly BIPOC students and teachers. We pair teaching artists and museum staff in classrooms to work hand-in-hand with teachers and their students to develop programming that is student-centric and focused on social-emotional and culturally relevant learning.

Masking is strongly recommended but no longer required for members of the public or employees while in the museum.
Ticket Information
This public program is free and open to the public. A paid ticket for museum admission is not required to attend this event.
