Experience a radical sci-fi fantasy in Hello World, a live performance and video game by Genevieve Quick at McEvoy Foundation for the Arts. Performers encounter a black hole, the multiverse, and signal outages as they communicate between the fictional Planet Celadon and Earth. Tickets, on sale now, are $12–15.
Interdisciplinary artist Quick blurs the boundaries between live performance and gaming, extending her exploration of global identity and politics in media-based practices. With a cast of all self-identified Asian Americans, Hello World offers a two-way channel between earth and the multiverse and a metaphor for the Asian diaspora. This event will also feature the live performance of a new musical score by Adria Otte and Gabby Wen.
Hello World is presented in conjunction with Image Gardeners, an exhibition at McEvoy Arts featuring eight decades of portrait photography by women and non-binary artists who challenge dominant conventions of representation. In the Screening Room, Gina Basso guest curates seen only, heard only through someone else’s description, a related program of experimental short films that offer fresh visions of moving image portraiture and nonfiction explorations of community. Admission to McEvoy Arts is free.
